PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

Oral Presentations

CHECK-IN: We recommend that you check in with the Session Moderator or the A/V Director approximately 1/2 hour before your session starts. Please make sure that your laptop and/or disk-based presentation runs as expected. Be especially careful to insure that any of your embedded videos run and display on the provided LCD projector.

TIMING: All oral presentations are scheduled to last 15 minutes. Please prepare a 10-minute, Microsoft PowerPoint XP-based talk. The moderator will let you know when you reach the 9-minute mark. This will leave five minutes for questions and discussion. If there is time the Session Moderator will allow for additional discussion at the end of the session.

A/V SUPPORT: There will be no facility for 35 mm slides. A computer running Windows XP and Microsoft PowerPoint XP will be available for each session as will a computer running Mac OSX and PowerPoint X. They will have CD and USB-flash-drive reading capability with Microsoft Media Player (MPG, AVI) and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 readers. We suggest you bring your presentation on a CD or USB-flash-drive to load onto our laptop at the meeting. Please contact the Meeting Administrator, Peggy Piech (mtech2007info@umich.edu), if you have additional A/V needs.

Word of Advice:

Poster Presentations

PREPARATION: Please prepare your poster to be no larger than 4' x 6'. You should design your poster to be read from five feet. Leave at least a one-inch blank margin for tack mounting. A poster template can be forwarded (for illustration purposes only) by contacting the Meeting Administrator, Peggy Piech (mtech2007info@umich.edu). Also feel free to contact Peggy with any additional poster preparation questions.

PRESENTATION: Poster boards and easels will be provided. However, please provide your own clear pushpins for your posters. Posters will be set up from 8:00-9:00 AM on Friday, April 20, in the Atrium of the Biomedical Science Research Building. Posters will be available for viewing Friday, April 20, during the lunch break (12:30-2:00 PM) and at the end of the Friday session (4:00-5:30 PM). Please stand at your poster during the Poster Session. Posters need to be removed by 6:00 PM Friday, April 20. If you cannot attend the entire meeting please make arrangements with your collaborators to remove your poster if you wish to have it retrieved. Please contact the Meeting Administrator, Peggy Piech (mtech2007info@umich.edu), if you have additional questions. Additional information and assistance will also be available at the Check-in desk.

Word of Advice:
It is always best to get an 8.5" x 11" page proof from the printer before committing to a full size print of your poster. The proof allows you to check for:
(1) misconversion of any fonts from your typesetting program (e.g., PowerPoint) to that used by the printer
(2) misalignment of text and figures, and
(3) typographical errors.
